How to Apply Your DTF Transfers
Application steps for the best result with a heat press. No press? Use a household iron.
Pre-Press Your Garment
Removes moisture & ensures a solid bond.
Position Your Design & Press at 160°C for 10-15 seconds
Using Medium Pressure (45 PSI)
Cold Peel
Let it cool completely before peeling.
2nd Press for 5 seconds Recommended
Improves durability & gives a soft matte finish. (Use Baking Paper over the design when pressing a second time)
No Heat Press? Apply With a Household Iron
You don't need commercial gear. What you do need is a hard surface and firm, steady pressure — the two things an iron makes easy to get wrong.
Prepare the surface
Lay down a flat, hard, heat-resistant surface — a wooden table or benchtop. Avoid soft ironing boards, which absorb the pressure you need. Cover it with a pillowcase or a pressing mat.
Set your iron to cotton
The cotton setting — hot.
Preheat the fabric
Iron the target area of the garment for 10–15 seconds to remove all wrinkles and any hidden moisture.
Position your design
Place your DTF transfer onto the garment in the spot you want it.
Cover with protection
Place a sheet of parchment paper or a thin pressing cloth directly over the design, to protect both the fabric and the graphic from burning.
Apply heat and pressure
Press the iron straight down with firm, two-handed pressure on the design for 10–15 seconds. Do not slide the iron around as you would when ironing normally — hold it steady.
Cool and peel
Let the garment and the transfer cool completely before slowly peeling away the plastic liner.
Final seal
Flip the garment inside out, or place the parchment paper back over the design, and press for another 10–15 seconds to lock it in. Wait 24–48 hours before the first wash.
Different garments, materials and irons all vary. Press a test sheet first and fine-tune your process before committing to a big run.
You Are Responsible for the Final Application
We provide high-quality DTF transfers that we use in house, but once they leave our hands, it's up to you to apply them correctly.
We do not take responsibility for damaged garments due to improper pressing.
Test first! Since different garments, materials, and machines can vary, we recommend ordering a test sheet to fine-tune your process before committing to a big run. Need help? We're happy to provide guidance, but the final application is 100% your responsibility.
