One carousel, 50 square metres
Screenlab began as a small, local screen printing shop on the Gold Coast — one manual carousel, a 50m² space, and a passion for quality. From day one we knew we weren't here to be just another print shop.
We outgrew the room, then outgrew the method
The racks filled with screens, the orders got bigger, and the cracks started to show. Every colour meant another screen to burn, every small job carried a setup cost, and every customer waited longer than they should have.
We stopped thinking like a print shop
The real problem was never printing t-shirts — it was the process customers had to endure to get them. Slow quotes, endless back-and-forth, long waits. So we moved into a bigger space, brought in the tech expertise, launched our eCommerce platform and started building a proprietary system to make ordering seamless.
First in Australia to go 100% DTF
While others played it safe, we doubled down — becoming Australia's first print company to go 100% DTF (Direct-to-Film). The industry thought we were crazy. It remains our standard method today, and for high-volume runs of a single design we'll still recommend screen printing when it's the better fit.
